In Loving Memory of Steve Filsinger On the 17th of November, 2022, at the age of 76, Steve's body grew tired and he passed away in Kingman, Arizona, where he had been hospitalized with pneumonia, dementia, and pain from numerous surgeries and multiple myeloma. Steve was born in Los Angeles, and grew up in Glendale, California with his elder sister, Doris. In his early years, he found passion working in stage production, with the sound and lighting crews of Hoover High. After high school, he joined the Air Force National Guard. He served 3 years in the Air Force before earning his bachelors degree in computer science at Cal Poly Pomona. While at Cal Poly, he met his first wife, Linda, and they moved to Washington state, where he earned his masters degree in computer science, and had two amazing, wonderful, beautiful daughters, Shannon and Sheila. After that, he moved to the Bay Area before settling in Orange County, CA. He worked as a DB2 specialist until he retired from Experian in 2015. Early on, Steve loved to garden, and as he got older, he found joy in traveling to exotic places. In 2007, Steve met and fell in love with the love of his life, Sharon, and they wed in 2009. Together Steve and Sharon traveled the world. They loved cruising to Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, as well as river cruises in Europe and the Mississippi. His Christian faith led him to work with He Intends Victory, a worldwide HIV/AIDS ministry. In addition to sponsoring AIDS orphans in Africa, he traveled to spread the love of Jesus Christ to Kenya, Uganda, Vietnam, Thailand, and Nepal. He also visited Greece, Japan, Israel, and Mexico. He always wanted to go to Tahiti, but never made it to the #1 item on his bucket list. Steve's 2 daughters, Shannon (Richard) Lucker and Sheila (David) Yoon, along with Sharon's 3 kids, Courtney (Dan) Lowry, Sean (Sarah) Hylton, and Todd (Kristina) Hylton, embraced the new joint family, and Grandpa Steve was adored by all 11 of their grandchildren, Stephanie, William, Julianna, Brycen, Caidlyn, Ryan, Ethan, Porter, Parker, Michaela, and Spencer. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Filsinger, and sister Doris Chiste, and nephew Michael Kienholz. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his five children, two nieces, eleven grandchildren, and his beloved Mastiff, Bear. Steve and Sharon chose Bullhead City, Arizona as their home in 2012, where they felt the unending love and compassion of the community and their church, Desert Shores Community Baptist Church. Steve is missed dearly, and will be remembered by his loved ones for his smile, his sense of humor, and his love for ice cream and chocolate chip cookie dough. A Celebration of Life will be held at Desert Shores Community Baptist Church in Bullhead City, AZ at 1:30pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022, followed by an ice cream social.
